REVIEW TIME

Here was my initial review on goodreads:

Characters:

Will's writing started to get creepy and I found it slightly annoying that you didn't know who he was writing to! I think it was really valuable to read from Will's perspective, this was a good concept as you get both sides of the relationship. I also thought that it revealed Will's possessive and controlling behaviour in a more prominent way. Will is so obsessive that it becomes dangerous and although he loves Anna, it's almost like he doesn't know that she is her own person too. He seems to think that Anna is his and his alone, she has no family or friends, she's just his in Will's eyes.

Anna is basically a teenage girl who's fallen in love and kind of gets wrapped up in a toxic relationship. She's torn in two mentally and emotionally. On the one hand, she loves Will and really can't find a fault in him, even defending his disgraceful actions against her. On the other hand, she knows he isn't right in what he's doing and basically feels like she's got to give up everyone to be with him and him alone.

Plot:
At first, I could not work out the two different perspectives. I literally sat there after a few chapters thinking who is the one writing letters in italics? After searching back through the book I worked out that it must be Will.

I think the plot is really powerful and informative to people like me, who have never experienced anything remotely like what Anna goes through. It's actually eye-opening and shows how addictive a toxic relationship can be. Sometimes we like things that are bad for us and our own health, and we don't even realise how bad that thing is. Anna doesn't realise that Will shouldn't treat her the way he does. Will doesn't let Anna be her own person and that's when it becomes toxic, when Anna starts to lose herself and things that define her, like music and friends.

I feel like the book is written in a teenage perspective really well. The teenage voice and feelings definitely come through spot on in my opinion. Even the school run is perfectly true and school life in general. Fantastic writing and feelings are portrayed so well with body language and not just Anna and Will's thoughts.

Overall feelings:

My overall feelings after reading this book are...
"EYE-OPENING AND POWERFUL"
I highly recommend this book for the simple reason it is a quick, easy but powerful read. Get your hands on the newest Eve Ainsworth book ASAP.
