Dewey's 24 hour readathon!

FINISHEDDDDD!

Finally, the 24 hours have drawn to a close and I have highly enjoyed my first ever Dewey's 24 hour readathon. I look forward to October's readathon and hope that it doesn't fall on my 21st birthday on the 11th! Thank you all so much for reading this blog and sticking with me for as many hours as possible. A big thank you to Sharlene (@SharleneSays) for cheering me on too, WOOO!

This is Mel at The Book Moo and please join me soon for more reading antics!

Hour 24 - Let's all cross the finish line together!

End of Event Meme

1) Which hour was most daunting for you?

Probably around about hour 10, I decided I needed a break and to spend some time with boyfriend so I then struggled and worried about not reading!

2) Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
Lies Like Love by  Louisa Reid is a large book, around 400 odd pages but it would definitely keep you hooked enough to finish it during the readathon!

3) Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?I honestly cannot think about how the readathon could run any smoother! It works like a well-oiled machine and has hardly any hiccups whatsoever!

4) What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?The blog posts were impeccable with timing and all the challenges links were working within minutes! Brilliant work people!

5) How many books did you read?
2 (Well, 150 pages at the end of a book and a whole one)

6) What were the names of the books you read?Lies like Love - Louisa ReidIf I Stay - Gayle Forman

7) Which book did you enjoy most?
Lies like Love - Louisa Reid just because i'm not musically inclined so my head kinda mashed up on those bits of If I Stay...

8) Which did you enjoy least?
I enjoyed both so this question doesn't have an answer!

9) If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?
I wasn't a cheerleader but would definitely give it a go next time!

10) How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?
DEFINITELY 100% I WILL!!!! Next time, i'd be a reader again and cheerleader maybe? But i'd organise my hours better so that my boyfriend didn't feel neglected but I still had enough reading time!

Hour 23 - Don't Quit Now!

This challenge is to talk about the music in your current book. Seriously, could I be reading a better book for this? If you've read If I Stay then you know just how much music is involved in the story. From classical to rock, punk and even Twinkle, Twinkle little star! I'm enjoying so far even though i'm pretty tone deaf!

Hour 22 - Double Number Hour!

I literally cannot answer the questions for this hour because i've literally been reading and blogging, reading and blogging! I haven't really checked out anymore books to add to my TBR because i'm scared of it getting any longer, AHHH!
Back to reading!!!!!

Hour 21 - The Beginning of the End!

I'm struggling with my few hours of sleep but If I Stay is definitely pushing me through, cannot stop reading!

Hour 20 - Break for Laughter!

I loved the idea of the draw it out challenge but i'm literally gonna read, read, read now rather than challenge, read, check twitter, challenge, twitter, twitter, twitter...

Hour 19 - Truly Outrageous!

I haven't read anymore book so far this morning because instead i'm putting my time into writing a review, the post will be up just after 9AM BST. This is basically Hour 20 for those of us in readathon land. Check it out if you can :)
So I must eat breakfast soon but first of all this challenge was to do a Shelfie, oh yeahhhhhh!
Here's my shelfie:

Hour 18 - The Caffeine hours!

*SLEEPING*

I'm finally awake so here goes for this hour's challenge:

Best Fantasy Book of your Reading Year

Has got to be A Storm of Swords by George R.R Martin because seriously, I didn't see that many deaths coming...

Best Sci-Fi Book of your Reading Year

These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner because seriously a spaceship called Icarus is not gonna last long...still a brilliant book though!

Best Cover of your Reading Year

Say Her Name by James Dawson, because it just sets you up for the theme and its a seriously scary book!

Hour 17 - Feeling Fueled!

*SLEEPING*

Hour 16 - But do you know the other Dewey?

*SLEEPING*

Hour 15 - I feel so alive!

*SLEEPING*

Hour 14 - Push your book!

*SLEEPING*

Hour 13 - Readathon books coming up on TSS!

I'm losing my eyes for tiredness now and it's only 1:15AM! Must sleep, but will definitely get up early and blog and read more! Will do my 15 minutes of exercise for this challenge when I wake up, possibly at 6AM...

Hour 12 - Mid event survey!

1. What are you reading right now?
If I Stay - Gayle Forman.

2. How many books have you read so far?
1 and a half.

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?
To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee.

4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
Just teatime and the pub, whoops! I'm not stressing, just taking a break because I can't read that long!

5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
The pressure isn't as bad as I thought it would be, quite chilled really!

Hour 11 - Read like there's no tomorrow!

This hour brings me a nice challenge to pick 3 books that I think will be classics in the year 2100. So this is a tricky one because I don't read classics but I have books that, in my mind are classics so I'll pick those!

1) The Color Purple by Alice Walker
This really is amazing, I've raved about this book before so I won't bore all of you again! But just read it and appreciate it.

2) The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Again, I rave about this book way too much so I won't bore you with another rant about it's brilliance! Except for this, read the book before watching the film, k?

3) Noughts & Crosses by Malorie Blackman
This is seriously leaps and bounds ahead for diversity in literature. I just cannot wait to read the rest of the series. WOWOWOW, I hope this is a classic in 2100! I'll be turning in my grave if it isn't.

Hour 10 - Read All day!

I have been reduced to alcohol already and there's 14 hours left! Rest for a few hours before continuing!

Hour 9 - High Hopes!

Running through If I Stay...can't blog, reading. Bye, maybe hour 10 there will be more but for now read, read, read!

Hour 8 - It's really great, at any rate!

I'm dodging the spine poetry challenge for this hour as I can feel a readathon headache coming along! So, i'm gonna take this hour as a read here, read there hour rather than a full block of reading. Also, i'm gonna spend some time with my boyfriend, who is feeling neglected right now! Over and out until Hour 9.

Hour 7 - It's your lucky hour!

This hour, I haven't done much reading, mainly eating a rather large chinese banquet made up of: Crispy duck and pancakes, spring rolls and samosas, barbeque ribs and sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and chips. Now, I am officially stuffed and ready to read again!

This hour's challenge is called Treasure Hunt where you must find as many books with these 3 objects on, trees, snow and weapons. Here is my concoction, which is quite worrying considering I have more weapon books than any... I'm not a murderer, promise! On with the reading!

Hour 6 - DON'T BELIEVE ME JUST READ!!!

That Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars song is honestly one of my favourite songs! And the parody is hilarious! Watch it here but come back to check out my response to this hour's challenge!
This was to take an image of something that relates to the plot in your current read so here it is! Music is a key element to If I Stay by Gayle Forman, I can tell that much from the first 30 pages. The whole family are musically involved, especially Mia and her cello.

Hour 5 - A Reading Rainbow Read-A-Thon!

This hour's challenge is to cast your main character by picking an actor/actress who would be perfect. However, i'm just 15 pages into If I Stay by Gayle Forman and can't quite pick one yet. I'm wondering if Chloe Moretz will live up to the character when I finish the book and probably watch the film tomorrow!
For now, i'm pushing through this book and within the first 15 pages, it's just happened and i'm really sad and I don't know whether to switch to a different book. I'll try to get through more this hour and update you in the next...

Hour 4 - Let's get together!

I have finished off the last 100 pages of Lies Like Live by Louisa Reid and seriously. You. Must. Read. It. Right. Now. I can't even put into words how brilliant this book is and how it is written so well. AHHH! More about that tomorrow when I do my review!

This hour's challenge is the goodreads scavenger hunt and unfortunately I am soooo not smart enough to participate in this one! Clues are given to a certain book and so on and so forth and I don't know any so far! Whoopseeee! More reading for me then, I hope we're all doing good. Keep Calm and Readathon.

Hour 3 - New Book BFF's!

We are seriously an amazing community, like I have found and followed such lovely people so far and connecting is the main thing for this readathon I think! I'm blowing my own trumpet here but, Bloggers and BookTubers and overall Book Lovers just RULE! WOO GO US!

This hour's challenge is 4 seasons, 4 books where each book must represent a season in some way, shape or form. For example, cover, colour, content, irony, any way possible. So here's mine:

Roadrage by M J Johnson = Winter (Dark night on the cover and content is dark)

Lies like Love by Louisa Reid (BLOG TOUR POST TOMORROW!) = Spring (Cover)

Unspeakable by Abbie Rushton = Summer (Cover)

The boy with the tiger's heart by Linda Coggin = Autumn (Colour)

Hour 2 - Reader Lives!

So for this hour, the challenge is to share you words of wisdom, without further ado, here are mine...
